We all know it’s a small, small world out there, but sometimes it seems even smaller than that. We met our DJ as a referral from a co-worker because of some rad corduroy suit we heard he had, but turns out, our DJ is taller than the average bear. Andy Calvert of www.highfidelitydj.com who will be mixing it up on the one’s and two’s for your cocktail, dinner, and booty shaking hours, has more friendly ties to Marisa and I than Micheal J Fox on that early 80’s sitcom. During our first meeting at The Oasis in St. Augustine, after hearing about Andy’s band The Wobbly Toms, we figured out that Marisa had actually went to see them play on St. Patty’s day with my childhood friend Summer, who is actually one of Andy’s co-workers at FCCJ. Also, to top it off, Andy was high school classmates with Marisa’s current boss, Aaron Gottlieb, at Native Sun. So you see, we are all in the “circle of trust” and didn’t even know it. So say hey to Andy and check out his website or Facebook profile so at the wedding you won’t feel like strangers.

:: SUBMIT A SONG FOR THE WEDDING! ::

Which leads me to my next topic of this post, SONG SELECTION! Marisa and I have a ton of great songs already lined up for you, but we also know how much fun it is to hear your favorite one when you’re already on the dance floor cuttin a rug and shakin bootay.

Name of Artist & Song Title
Simply leave any song you would like hear at the wedding in the comments below and we will see if we can round it up for you! We’ll only charge you .10 instead of .25, Just kiddin

WARNING: If you request the chicken dance, electric slide, or any other hanus wedding non-sense, you will be tazerd by a crew of misfits and shot in the neck with a poisonous blow dart from a Native Aborigine hiding in the rafters (like the ones in Crocodile Dundee).

Yesterday we went on a journey through downtown with Jeanne to get some engagement pics for our friends and family to spread around because Marisa and I hardly have any good ones of each other. But that’s mostly my fault because I usually make a stupid face on purpose. But these photos turned out so so good! Jeanne really knows what she is doing and we tried to act our goofiest the whole time, except when we were out in front of a busy intersection of rowdy Jaguar fans… I froze up a little. But we are super excited about them and Marisa now has photos of us to put in frames around the house. And any of you who are thinking of putting a pic of us in the paper (Mom) you’re only allowed to use the one with the mustache! Here are some of our favorites of the bunch.

Well, if you are reading this post, then you have probably gotten our Save the Date by now! After much back and forth between which one of us was gonna design it, getting the stamps made, finding small square envelopes that were the right color, and dealing with the post office not wanting to send these out, we finally got them in the mail. We know some of you didnt get them yet and that is either because we didnt have your address or the post office sent them back. So keep an eye in the mail for them. We dont want them to get lost between the mass amount of junk mail we all get. Marisa… take it away.

As designers, we have tons of resources at our disposal. And at the top of that list would have to be photographers. We have more friends who are semi or professional than Michael Jackson has noses. But one of those friends work sticks out miles above the rest, a good mutual friend of both of ours, Jeanne Ciasullo.

We have been a fan of Jeanne’s work long before we knew her and we especially loved her photo session of the Wet Hot American Summer party at TSI a while back. Photos like that make it an easy choice. She has already worked with Marisa on a couple of other projects so we can’t wait for her to capture our special day.

And now for the most difficult decision of all for us and more specifically, Marisa. Who to pick to make our cakes? Not long after we got engaged, we were at a birthday dinner for a couple of friends, when we had one of the best carrot cakes we ever put our lips on compliments of Judy Tan. A couple of months later we made a visit over to Etiquette of Chocolate and sampled the all they had to offer and got to meet Jaycel Adkins, the other half of EOC and the rest is history.

Judy Tan, a native of New York City, is a career changer who left a life of chemical formulas for the land of chocolate and cake recipes to satisfy a need to make people happy and express her own creativity. She has worked for numerous acclaimed chefs and establishments, including Fauchon and Le Cirque in NYC.

Jaycel Adkins, a native of Jacksonville, grew up working in the family restaurant since he was little. After saving money and traveling throughout Europe, he decided to enter the Pastry Program at the French Culinary Institute. He has studied under many acclaimed chefs, including Ron Ben Israel, Andrew Shotts, and Stephane Glacier.

It was while attending the French Culinary Institute in NYC that he met Judy and struck up a life long friendship based on their desire to make people happy through the amazing confections their vision and talents lead them to create.

To see more of their cakes visit etiquetteofchocolate.com or check out the Blog!

After seven long years of putting up with each other, we finally got engaged on our anniversary in Savannah Georgia. Levi’s original plan was to propose to me in the garden from “Midnight in the The Garden of Good and Evil” but after taking one of the scariest ghost tours of our lives, the tour guide said if you you go int the garden after midnight the cops will either kick you out or you will get harrassed by bums. So with that being said, Levi popped the question on the bench in front of Clarey’s Cafe (also in the movie and serves up the best sweet tea in Savannah). So now we have our very own bench to go back to!

We stayed in the Planters Inn which is one of the few buildings in the city that survived the fires and was said to have been a brothel at one point and extremely haunted. We had our anniversary dinner at the Olde Pink House which is right next door to the Inn and we spent a lovely saturday walking up and down the streets and through the many courtyards that fill downtown Savannah. Another favorite of ours and a must upon return is Vic’s on the River. Excellent food at a great price, great view of the bay and a charming madame on the piano… can’t beat it. It felt like a scene right out of a movie.

Another place we will have to visit again is the @Home Store, on main street. Marisa was in love with this store as you can tell and I think it fell in love with my wallet. But I must admit, they had really cool design / antique things for reasonable prices. We also went by the SCAD shop which was supposed to be all student work but I saw a lot of stuff that I had seen online before. Prices not so good.
